KL Cherokee

     This all-new Jeep Cherokee was officially announced on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013. The new mid-size crossover SUV was shown off at the New York International Auto Show. Chrysler Group LLC began selling this new Jeep, dubbed the all-new Cherokee, in November 2013.
 

     This vehicle was designed by Chrysler and Fiat on the Compact U.S. Wide Platform and still is built on a unibody chassis. Unique to Jeep, this vehicle is equipped with a transversely mounted engine rather than a longitudinal mounted engine. This means that the transversely mounted engine is parallel with the axels where as the longitudinal mounted engine is perpendicular to the vehicle’s axles.

     Being the top ranked most affordable compact SUV in America, the Cherokee has a 45% higher fuel economy than the Liberty and older Cherokees that it replaced, coming in at 31 MPG. The Cherokee is built at Toledo North Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio. The wheel base for the KL is 106 Inches, which is 5.1 inches longer than the XJ.
